I just felt a disturbance in the Force, as if millions of wallets cried out in pain and were suddenly silenced.

ah.... yeah... thats a little concerning

we should be getting 8 of them next year (yes thats pretty much our whole airforce)

You’ve got an additional 27 planned.

We’ve 15 (six in America) another 42 by 2023 and total of 138.

So far so good, the 388th is the first o perational squadron so they’ve been operating here for some time without incident.  plus if it wasn’t 35's it was 16's A10s, etc.

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. Let’s see what the cause was.

One of your guys totaled his F-16 earlier this year, so you need some new planes anyway.

Good news is you are getting the F-35A, which is presumably safer than the F-35B.

37 total. Yours are all F35A’ s, n o B’ s.

All ours are B’ s, no A’s .

correct. Not a lot of need for a VTO L variant in the desert. The 388th is more a testbed group since support and training ranges are close by.  The A was done first so it makes sense they’d put them here.

?

It was  a B that crashed though.

Yeah, I’ve never understood why the F-35 looks like that. I mean, I get that it’s RAM on the panel edges to keep the RCS down, but it’s still an odd look compared to other steal th aircraft.

I mean the reason we have A’s instead of B’s is because there isn’t a reason to put them out here, Hill is more about testing integration and avionics than about flight dynamics or combat o perational .

The U.S. has B’s out at two squadrons in Arizona.

We’ve six B’s in the U.S. for training and testing.

All ours are B’s for Air Force and Navy

The article title isn’t exactly right- we’ve crashed more expensive weapons before (at least per plane cost, maybe not total program cost...)

https://theaviationist.com/2018/02/23/ten-years-ago-today-the-u-s-air-force-lost-its-first-b-2-stealth-bonber-during-take-off-from-guam-and-heres-are-two-videos/

https://www.militaryaerospace.com/articles/2017/12/collision-destroyer-cargo-ship.html

At least it wasn’t 2.5% of our entire B2 fleet, or rammed into a giant, slow-moving cargo ship....
